MALVA

Beatriz Madruga

Guitarist and producer from Porto. She studied in the professional music program at the Escola Profissional de Música de Espinho, where she studied Classical Guitar (2011–2016). During her training, she had the opportunity to share the stage with artists such as Tó Trips, Carlos Azevedo, and Rita Maria, among others, while performing with the Espinho Jazz Orchestra.

She later deepened her studies in jazz guitar at the Conservatório de Música de Coimbra (2016–2017), where she was the guitarist in the ensemble that won Festa do Jazz at Teatro S. Luiz, in Lisbon. In 2022, she completed her Bachelor’s degree in Jazz Guitar at the Prins Claus Conservatorium in Groningen, Netherlands. She began her path in music production in 2021, composing the soundtrack for the El Amor de La Calle fashion show, presented at Lisbon Fashion Week.

In 2022, she released her debut album, titled “Oxalá”, a compilation of works written for classical guitar between the ages of 13 and 23. This work reflects her classical and jazz influences, while also highlighting strong Portuguese roots and an intimate character. Shortly after recording the album, she suffered a nerve injury that prevented her from playing for two years. During that time, she focused on rehabilitation while deepening her knowledge in music production, expanding her artistic approach and exploring new sonic possibilities. In 2024, she returned to the stage as part of FAÍCC presentations at Teatro Campo Alegre in Porto, where she collaborated with Sílvia Pera and Marine Perruchoud, creating the soundtrack for the performance and completing her first piece combining guitar and electronics.

In 2025, she joined MALVA’s band for the concerts of the new album “Poros”, playing electric guitar.

Carolina Viana

Carolina Viana first gained recognition with redoma, a Porto-based duo with a rap-influenced, deconstructed, and poetic sound, which she formed with producer Joana Rodrigues.

In 2023, she took a solo step outside of redoma, in search of an individual language. She adopted the artistic persona MALVA, named after the flowers known for accelerating wound healing, and released her first single, “extremidades”. This debut, under her own name, explores the limits of body and soul, as well as the conscious and unconscious excesses of those limitations, through a raw and visceral sound.

Following “extremidades”, she collaborated with INÊS APENAS on the track “Tensa”, written by both artists and produced by Joana Rodrigues, which was directly added to Spotify’s editorial EQUAL Global playlist.

In October 2023, MALVA released her debut solo album, “vens ou ficas”, a collection of songs that has given her the opportunity to perform on various stages, including Festival MATE, Maus Hábitos, Festival Emergente (Music Box), Hard Club, Bons Sons, NOS Alive, among others.

In 2025, she released “poros”, her second album, for which she invited Mimi Froes, Bia Maria, Miguel Marôco, Francisco Fontes, and Luís Duarte Moreira to join her in composing and performing the songs that make up this second full-length record.
