On Westway, we will have the privilege of witnessing a conversation between two iconic figures in electronic music culture in Portugal and internationally. Deeply knowledgeable about the history of dance music and major contributors to the formation and reputation of the scene both nationally and internationally, Rui Vargas and DJ Vibe (Tó Pereira) have spanned generations, influenced trends, navigated the major transformations of the industry and its consumption habits, without ever falling behind in the face of the ever-changing pace imposed by the advent of the super-digitalization of music.
We will hear them talk about their passion for radio, life in clubs, the safe freedom of the dancefloor, and the glorious years of the internationalisation of dance music in the 90s, in which the Underground Sound of Lisbon (USL) played a large part.
In short, the past is revived in the present to project futures that seem to encompass the discussion of the phenomenon of the massification of this industry and also of mental health, two important aspects for the vitality of a culture that began underground and has become (perhaps) excessively overground.
