Bicho Carpinteiro
features instrumental rock and “muscular” folk watered with viras, fados,
chulas and lenga-lengas served in a tray of electronic environments seasoned with
all the richness that Portuguese tradition has to offer. Violas Braguesa and Beiroa
and electrified Cavaquinhos, traditional drums and trimmed puffs and lenga-lengas
with auto-tune are the tools that Vasco Ribeiro Casais (Omiri, Seiva,
Dazkarieh) and Rui Rodrigues (Casuar, LOT, Uxukalhus), two musicians with “carpenter
bug”, use and abuse to bring the nostalgic cauldron of Portugal to a new light.
