Westway LAB is an event founded in 2014, focused on the music sector that brings together, in spring, in Guimarães, three important dimensions: co-creation (artistic residencies), PRO conferences and festival.
Westway LAB is the echo of what is most stimulating in music today, addressing the most critical issues that cross music production globally, enhancing the exchange and circulation of artists and professionals throughout Europe. Its annual programme stands out for its bold proposals, for the creation of new works and for its ability to bring together all agents in the music scene, in a relational environment, which includes strong national and international partnerships.
Every year, Westway LAB creates a perfect environment for artists from different latitudes, to work and create together original compositions, to be presented during the festival.
Annually, Westway LAB launches an open call for professionals in the music sector to participate in an international conference, which brings together delegates from all over the world to share knowledge and experiences, addressing issues related to music production and distribution.
Westway LAB is an original and innovative idea implemented in partnership between A Oficina and AMAEI - Associação de Músicos Artistas e Editoras Independentes, to which many other important entities have joined forces to reinforce the mission over the last decade: GDA Foundation, WHY Portugal, ESNS Exchange and Antena 3.
